Louisiana Strong!

Louisiana is strong. Over 1,000 strong to be exact.

On Saturday, November 12, locals of the Greater Baton Rouge area converged in downtown Baton Rouge to run as one—one family, one community, one people with a mission to celebrate life, Louisiana strong at WNLC’s Born to Run – Baton Rouge 5K and Fun Run presented by The Carpenter Health Network.

We could not have asked for more beautiful weather for our event. Everything about the morning spoke LIFE. From the brightly colored t-shirts of our many teams to the band’s spirited performance to the giggles of children warming up for the 1-miler under Fr. Brad Doyle’s comical instructions, Born to Run was an exuberant celebration.

“This year’s Born to Run – Baton Rouge was the biggest and best yet!” stated Cade Cipriano, Event Chair of Born to Run – Baton Rouge. “Born to Run has grown to become one of our community’s most popular events, and shows no signs of slowing down. I know I speak for WNLC’s many supporters when I say ‘We look forward to doing it all again next year!’”

For many, this year’s Born to Run was a ray of sunshine after the storm. Our hearts have been heavy with the suffering that so many in our Baton Rouge community have endured due to the recent flooding. But this past Saturday morning provided a reason for laughter and a reminder that life truly is precious.

Because of you, downtown Baton Rouge exploded with color and joy, increasing awareness of how we cherish life. The event was successful in raising funds to continue our services to women in unplanned pregnancies, to women who need to hear that the life within them is precious and a reason for celebration.

On behalf of WNLC’s staff and event coordinators, we thank you for joining us and running as one. Your support gives life and saves lives in our community.
