What a Wonderful World!

On Friday, October 7, over 600 supporters of life gathered for a night of food, fun, and dancing at our annual Gala for Life at ClubXLIV near Champions Square. The Superdome displayed our iconic teal and purple colors for the whole city to see as we joined for a celebration of life. Formerly known as our Fais Do Do, our 2016 Gala for life was a phenomenal success.

Our event’s new name and venue proved to be a fabulous fit for our celebration. What better way to celebrate life in our community than to celebrate surrounded by reflections of Louisiana culture festooning the walls? From Louis Armstrong’s poignant “What a Wonderful World” lyrics wrapping around the bar, to a full wall of Muses shoes, to the Champions Square Jumbotron showing our logo, the visual elements of the evening stood as a perfect emblem of the reason for our gathering—a celebration of life in our community.

What a night! The décor was festive. The generously donated food was delectable. The music was enlivening. The auction provided some enjoyable and amiable competition. The photo booth was full of whimsical fun. Our deserving Gala for Life Honorees, Ben and Kristen Clapper, were charming and inspirational. And you—you were wonderful!

It was truly a night of hope. We can sometimes become too easily discouraged by what seems to be the ever-looming and strengthening culture of death. The battle for a culture of life may seem insurmountable. A world in which a mother has the legal “right” to kill her own child is a broken world indeed.

But we choose to speak words of hope and life over all those who struggle to hear that truth. And we choose to celebrate because, as Kristen reminded us in her address to all of us present at the Gala, “Where sin abounds, grace abounds all the more” (Romans 5:20).

This year’s Gala raised over an astounding $153,000!

Because of you, women who are struggling to choose life will see their little one dancing inside them through a free ultrasound; women caught in the grips of confusion and pain will receive much-needed professional counseling; and women lacking the resources to raise a child will receive the necessary material and emotional aid to step confidently into the gift of motherhood.

We thank you for joining us in our mission to be the hands and feet and heart of Christ in a world that so desperately needs to know His love. Thank you for joining us in our mission to support life and promote peace in our community.

What a celebration of life! Because of you, we celebrated with record-breaking numbers, and because of you, women facing the challenge of unplanned pregnancies can find the hope and support they need to choose life.
