Engaging the Culture: Why We Need Programs Like “Growing Up Gracefully”

Imagine your daughter, granddaughter, niece or neighbor walking through a grocery store when she spots a teen magazine geared to her interests. Pictures of prom dresses, celebrity interviews, and cosmetic tips are teased on the cover. And inside: a gift guide for their post-abortive friends.

Shocking, but true. In the first six weeks of 2017, Teen Vogue pushed abortion on readers 63 times, including the “What to Get a Friend Post-Abortion” feature, with tips ranging from “an angry uterus heating pad” to other unmentionables.

Once upon a time, abortion activists spoke of privacy, reproductive rights, and a desire to make the procedure “safe, legal, and rare.” Today, pro-choice advocates are becoming pro-voice advocates, promoting personal abortion stories to persuade the pro-life generation to view abortion positively.

Why?
Planned Parenthood and pro-abortion lobbyists know that stories are powerful. They grasp the greatest nugget of truth in the 2012 New York Times bestseller The Storytelling Animal: “If you want a message to burrow into a human mind, work it into a story.”

And so they have, with marketing efforts such as the 1 in 3 Campaign created to change public perception about abortion’s prevalence. They encourage using the hashtag #ShoutYourAbortion on social media to reduce shame and stigma.

At Woman’s New Life Center, we embrace pre- and post-abortive women with loving concern and authentic, holistic health care. At the same time, we know they deserve a better choice than abortion. And we want to assure that teens and young women know there are better choices available, that they can secure healthy and successful futures for themselves, with support, despite any unexpected or unintended consequences of life.

For more than 15 years Woman’s New Life Center has helped women in crisis by offering free medical and counseling services. Now, we need to reach them sooner. We need to be the calm voice of reason and compassion amid angry and chaotic “shouts” from the abortion industry flooding media.

We need to show young women that they can choose authentic healthcare, they can choose life, they can choose purity, and they can achieve success. To answer the need, we’ve developed a “Growing Up Gracefully” presentation. We need your help to SPREAD THE WORD.
