Abortion advocates also claim that a heartbeat, which is visible on an ultrasound starting at 5 weeks 5 days, is not a heartbeat but only a “flutter.” As the Associated Press states, “at the point where advanced technology can detect that first flutter, as early as six weeks, the embryo isn’t yet a fetus and it doesn’t have a heart. An embryo is termed a fetus beginning in the 11th week of pregnancy, medical experts say.”

Eleven weeks is also the latest a woman can take the abortion pill. Thus, this marketing of the heartbeat as a “flutter” supports the significant profit the abortion industry makes off the abortion pill.

Furthermore, the abortion industry has taken advantage of the pandemic, using it as an excuse to promote abortion pill by mail, which removes the need for women to have a proper evaluation by a doctor before taking it. This poses dangerous health risks to women, particularly if they have dated their pregnancy incorrectly or if their pregnancy happens to be ectopic.
